Monty Steele, Owner

• Over 25 years in schutzhund/ IPO training for sport competition. Titling multiple dogs to SchH/IPO3, with multiple dogs awarded High Tracking, High obedience, and High in Trial

• Certified helper in USA, WDA, and DVG

• 8 years of personal protection dog training

• 20 years of law enforcement experience

I look forward to the challenges faced with training every new dog and trying to get the very best out of each dog to meet the owner's needs. I have a training system that I have been very successful with, and I am able to adapt it to the characteristics and abilities of each dog. My tactical training and experience help me teach the owners how to use their dogs in real life applications. I love watching the dogs put all the pieces together and learn what their purpose is.

I am fortunate to be surrounded by talented trainers, including my wife Linda, who help me and push me to be a better trainer.

The most rewarding thing about training is the bond that's developed with the dogs. By far the hardest part is saying goodbye when the training is complete - they always take a piece of my heart with them. 

Linda Steele, Owner

Linda has a background in dog sport training and has worked alongside Monty training countless dogs over the years.

Her love and care for the dogs we train are a great comfort to our clients. She makes the dogs feel right at home as soon as they arrive, and she builds a special relationship with every dog we train. Linda spends most of her time at home with the dogs which sets us apart from other training businesses. Linda works hard at the bonding process between dog and human. This results in a dog that respects and trusts their owner. She helps them learn skills so that owners can incorporate their dogs into whatever their lives consist of, laying quietly and entertaining themselves, sleeping next to the bed, just learning how to live cohesively in the family house, making dogs much better companions to their owners.  She also works hard to make sure dogs learn to be comfortable being handled (ears, teeth, paws, etc.) and cared for.

Linda's attention to detail and care helps her identify each dog's nuances and characteristics which helps greatly in training.

Nick Reinhard

Nick has been helping Shepherds of Steele since the beginning of our business. He has been a trial helper and competing in schutzhund and IPO for over 25 years, competing at the regional and national level.

Nick is excellent at developing dogs and is a valuable resource for helping solve training problems. He is a great training and trial decoy. He is very helpful at setting up scenarios and is a good friend.

Jacob Norman

Jacob is the owner of Ethno-Canine which provides training for pets, personal protection, scent work, and dual-purpose police dogs. His background in police dog training meshes very well with our background in sport dogs. Jacob is an excellent bite suit decoy and is very fun to work with.
